Moderator's Ice Bucket Challenge

Tuesday August 26 2014

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt Rev John Chalmers, and his wife Liz have taken on the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Mr and Mrs Chalmers took part in the charity craze during a visit to the Isle of Lewis after he was nominated by the Church's youngest minister, the Rev Michael Mair. In turn, Mr Chalmers has nominated Seonag MacKinnon, the Church's head of communications. Mrs Chalmers nominated the Rev Tommy MacNeil, minister of Martin's Memorial Church in Stornoway, where the challenge took place.

In a video posted on the Church's YouTube channel, Mr Chalmers encouraged donations to motor neurone disease research, speaking of his experience ministering to a sufferer.
