                                                                                                                   Monday October 22 2018

MUSICIAN and hymn writer, the Rev Dr John Bell will tomorrow deliver the annual Donald Gorrie lecture in Edinburgh.

Speaking on the theme ‘Singing ourselves into or out of belief’ he will delivery the lecture at St Andrew’s and St George’s West Church in Edinburgh at 7.30pm tomorrow (Tuesday October 23).

The event is free with refreshments.

Bell is perhaps the best known of modern hymn writers in Scotland and recent received a Lambeth 2018 award from the Archbishop of Canterbury for his “outstanding contribution in terms of Christian worship, witness and social action”.

A member of the Church of Scotland’s Iona Community, he leads their Wild Goose Worship Group and is a frequent contributor to radio.

The lecture takes place in memory of Donald Gorrie, MP, MSP and councillor in Edinburgh and an elder of the Church. Previous speakers have included Sally Magnusson and the Very Rev Dr John Chalmers.
