More than two thirds of Church of Scotland Presbyteries have backed the measure allowing the ordination of people in same-sex relationships, the Church has confirmed.
The final results, released today, show that 32 out of 45 Presbyteries voted in favour of the Overture which would permit a Kirk Session to allow ministers and deacons who are in a civil partnership to apply for a vacant charge.
The results for individual Presbytery members were closer, with 1391 (54.6%) voting in favour and 1153 (45.4%) against.
The Overture will now be considered again at this year's General Assembly.
