Influential Preacher to Speak in Edinburgh

Wednesday June 24

One of the United States’ best known preachers is to speak at St John’s Church, Edinburgh, next week.

Barbara Brown Taylor was named in Time magazine’s list of the 100 most influential people in the world last year; and in 2010 ranked in the top ten most influential living preachers in a poll conducted by the Southern Baptist Convention.

She is an Episcopal priest, Professor of Religion and Philosophy at Piedmont College in Georgia, and the author of 13 books.

At the Edinburgh event, Barbara will be speaking primarily from her latest book, Learning to Walk in the Dark, in which she challenges the association of darkness with wickedness and undertakes a year-long exploration of literal and spiritual darkness.

The Edinburgh appearance is at St John’s Church, Princes Street, Edinburgh, on Thursday July 2 at 7pm. It will be followed by a Q&A session and book signing, with refreshments. Entry is free.
