HTC Announces Glasgow Staff

Wednesday October 7

Highland Theological College has appointed two members of staff to run its newly opened base in Glasgow.

Pamela Adkins and the Rev Nathan Owens will run the classrooms based at Newton Place in the city’s west end, with teaching being delivered mainly by video-conferencing from the college’s main campus in Dingwall.

The Glasgow premises have been established in time for the start of the new academic session. HTC says it has experienced growing demand for its theological studies degree from people in the Central Belt following the demise of International Christian College in Glasgow, which ceased operations earlier in the summer.

HTC Principal the Rev Hector Morrison said: “The closure of International Christian College brings a significant loss to theological education in Scotland and beyond. We at HTC are excited to be able to establish this new facility in order to make provision for evangelical theological education in Glasgow.

“As an HTC graduate himself, Reverend Owens will be a great support to Central Belt-based students who want to study on campus with a peer group for support and interaction.  Mrs Adkins has excellent administrative experience to run the new facility”.

HTC was launched in 1994 and is a partner in the University of the Highlands and Islands (UHI). It has been recognised by the Church of Scotland as a trainer of ministers since 2006.

The final batch of ICC students graduated this year. A successor institution, the Scottish School of Christian Mission, has been launched and offers training and education in youth and community work, urban ministry and pioneer and missional leadership.
