Two services run by the Church of Scotland’s social care arm, CrossReach, were honoured in the Scottish Care Home Awards last week.
Balmedie House, a 32-room care home in a village north of Aberdeen, was named joint winner of the Care Home of the Year Award at the ceremony on Friday.
And The Elms, a specialist home in Edinburgh for older people with dementia, was a finalist in the Dementia and Specialist Care Award category.
A statement on the CrossReach website said: “Being selected as finalists is external recognition of the professional, sensitive and heart-felt support delivered on a daily basis by each of these services and for that, each team was overwhelmed with excitement, gratitude and a sense of ‘disbelief’ at being selected.”
