L-r: The Rev Dr Russell Barr, the Rev Sally Foster-Fulton, the Rt Rev Dr Angus Morrison
Church leaders from across Scotland came together with Christian Aid supporters and the new head of Christian Aid Scotland this morning (Wednesday) to enjoy breakfast before the start of Christian Aid Week.
Both the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt Rev Dr Angus Morrison, and the Moderator-Designate for 2016, the Rev Dr Russell Barr, joined the ‘Big Brekkie’.
Christian Aid Scotland is this year asking supporters to host a ‘Big Brekkie’ fundraising breakfast during Christian Aid Week, from May 15-21.
Sally Foster-Fulton, the new head of Christian Aid Scotland, said: “The theme for this Christian Aid Week is ‘Love every neighbour’ and it offers an opportunity to do what we humans do best when we are at our best – share. Humanity has one home and we need to share it more equally: for all our differences, we have the world in common. Our neighbours across the world need us to care with that same genuine neighbourliness, to see our common fragility and respond with compassion.”
Also at the gathering were representatives of the Scottish Episcopal Church, Baptist Union of Scotland, United Reformed Church, United Free Church, the Congregational Federation in Scotland, the Methodist Church and the Salvation Army.
