Author Speaks at Eco-Congregation Gathering

Thursday March 30 2017

The author and activist Alistair McIntosh will be the main speaker at the Annual Gathering of Eco-Congregation Scotland next month.

Alastair (interviewed in Life and Work in February), who works on the meeting points of theology with issues such as climate change and land reform, will be speaking on themes from his latest book, Poacher’s Pilgrimage.

The theme of the gathering is ‘Caring for Creation in Times of Change’. The past year has seen major steps forward in combatting climate change, both in Scotland and the world; but looking forwards the world faces the uncertainty of brexit negotiations and a pro-fossil-fuel, climate change sceptical administration in America.

The day will offer a chance to network with other Eco-congregations and attend workshops on ethical finance, getting involved with local nature reserves, how to talk to Christians about climate change, sustainable pilgrimage, energy efficiency and engaging with politicians.

Among the groups represented will be Christian Aid, Tearfund, the Meet-Your-MSP Project, RSPB, and the Scottish Pilgrim Routes Forum.

The gathering takes place at Blairbeth Church in Glasgow on Saturday April 22, starting at 10am. The event is free but donations are invited.
