Artists Take New Look at Iona

Tuesday September 19 2017

New paintings of Iona produced by Scottish artists will be on show at a charity exhibition in Edinburgh next month.

The group of seven artists were invited to the island in April by Sir Maxwell MacLeod, son of Iona Community founder George MacLeod, to take a modern look at the landscapes painted by the Scottish Colourists of the 20th century.

Among the artists is Bill McArthur, Life and Work’s cartoonist, along with Kate Downie, Hugh Buchanan, Leonie Gibb, Deirdre Nicholl, Laura Boothby and Brenda Martin.

Each of the artists has contributed a painting, sales of which will go to Diabetes UK.

The exhibition takes place in the Summerhall Corner Gallery from October 2-30.
