The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland visited Culross Abbey twice last week as part of its 800th anniversary celebrations.

The Rt Rev Derek Browning attended a celebratory concert by the Heart and Soul Swing Band on Saturday September 23, and led worship at the church the following morning.


Woodside Church in Aberdeen celebrated the 35th anniversary of the union which created the parish. Woodside North and Woodside South churches united in 1982. Church minister the Rev Markus Auffermann is pictured with longstanding member Cynthia Russell cutting the celebration cake.


The Kirk Session of Cheviot Churches in the Borders was swelled by seven  after ordinations and admissions on September 17.

Services were held in Yetholm and Morebattle, followed by a Congregational Lunch in Yetholm Church, with entertainment from the choirs of both churches.

The new elders are (pictured left to right) Pippa Emerson, David Lang, Susan Stewart, Anne Brown, Alan Calvert, Jimmy Fleming and Dot Halliday.
