Looking Back: A dip into the archives

THE Rt Rev Dr George F MacLeod, Moderator of the General Assembly, led young people from Campbeltown to the annual St Columba Convtenicle at Southend, Kintyre.

The pilgrimage was suggested by the Moderator in a letter to Kintyre Presbytery in which he said that too many people were arriving for a service such as this in charabancs with cigarettes in their mouths.

It left the Town Cross headed by a piper on a 150 mile walk by the coast road to Southend.
