A Prayer for the Church, ahead of this month's General Assembly

Spirit of God,
Wherever You hover,
Wherever You stay,
Your Church is to be found.

Spirit of God,
Wherever You move,
Wherever You breathe,
Your Church is to be found.

Spirit of God,
We pray that in this time of challenge and change,
Your blessing and guiding
Will be with Your Church
As we ponder and plan,
As we decide and act.

Reveal to us as we think and talk,
As we gather and meet,
What Your will is for us today.
Remind us of past success and failure,
Make us examine our reasons and work today,

And open the door of the future to us
That we might see the far horizon
To which You point us,
And towards which You will lead us.

Give us enough vision,
Give us enough courage,
Give us enough strength
To dream and work and walk with You,
And may the brightness of Your presence
Shine in our hearts and souls,
And empower our hands,
And impel our feet
As we move onwards, forward,
With You, for You, beside You.

Spirit of God,
Comforter and Guide,
Healer and Inspirer,
Bless Your Church today.
