Prayer for August

Our loving and faithful God

We give you thanks that whilst the seasons change, you never do.

You are eternal and unchanging, the same yesterday, today and forever. The One constant in our lives.

Thank you for this time of year with longer days, brighter nights and a break from normal routine.

You are the God who needs nothing and yet you took time to rest. Thank you for the summer that gives u the opportunity to follow your example.

We rejoice in the gifts of family and friends and the time off to enjoy them. As Father, Son and Holy Spirit you lived in community for all eternity. Thank you that our holidays truly do become holy days when we spend time with those we love and who love us.

We praise you for the sun, the sand and the sea. All part of your creation that you saw was good and that we get to enjoy.

Thank you for summer festivals and fetes, for children’s clubs at church, for visiting new places and meeting new people; for line-ins and laughter. Thank you that as we enjoy these blessings, that having being made in your image, you enjoy us all the more.

We ask these things with thanksgiving and praise in the name of Jesus our Lord, Saviour and Friend.

Amen.
