May you catch us
Between now and not yet
Between prophecy and promise
In a season
Resonating
With the deep-downness
Of that primal hope
For humanity
May you catch us
Between the epilogue of the light
And its prelude
Caught up
In suspense
As the solstice hinges
On a story of birth
That shifts the darkness
May you catch us
Befuddled
And baffled
By the scandal of a word
Ancient and long
Shaped by promise
Even more ancient and long
Soon to be appearing
In human flesh
May you catch us
In moments of advent
Awakening to the rumour
You have found a way
A time
A place
In every time
And every place
To disrupt our ways
With incarnation
May you catch us
In your story
Where flesh is no longer a barrier
But the tangible skin of heaven
In a world
Untangled and set free
In the prospects of a child
Called ‘God-made-one-of-us’
