Our regular round-up of news received from churches.

Please send items of parish news to magazine@lifeandwork.org or Life and Work, 121 George Street, Edinburgh EH2 4YN. If there are children in any picture please confirm that their parents or guardians have given permission for publication.

The Rev John Brewster, minister of Greenhills Parish Church in East Kilbride, attended the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) in St Louis, while on study leave. He is pictured with the newly-elected co-Moderators of the General Assembly, Vilmarie Cintrón-Olivieri & the Rev Cindy Kohmann.

The Rev John Carswell, minister of Cadzow Parish Church in Hamilton, celebrated his graduation from the University of Glasgow where he was awarded a Doctorate in Practical Theology (DPT).

Dr Carswell wrote his thesis on adult baptism in the Church of Scotland with a particular focus on the Special Commission on Baptism (1952-1963) and the  decisions of the 2003 General Assembly at which the Panel on Doctrine report introduced a number of significant changes to Church of Scotland baptismal policy.

He is pictured with his wife Lisa and son Johnny.
