Moderator to Join Wind Farm Walk

Tuesday August 14 2018

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt Rev Susan Brown will be joining Christian Aid supporters as they take part in the charity’s annual sponsored Power Walk at Whitelee Windfarm.

The Power Walk will take place on August 25 at the UK’s largest onshore windfarm, with walkers not only raising funds for Christian Aid but also listening to stories of how climate change is affecting communities around the world.

The walk also aims to raise awareness of Christian Aid Scotland’s campaign to push the Scottish Government to commit to end Scotland’s contribution to climate change within a generation.

Sally Foster-Fulton, head of Christian Aid Scotland said: “We welcome the news that Susan will be joining us for our annual Power Walk at Whitelee Windfarm to help raise funds for Christian Aid and highlight the issues surrounding climate change. We hope people will join us for what promises to be a fun, educational and inspiring event.”

The walk starts at 11am at Whitelee Windfarm in East Renfrewshire and there is a choice of three- or seven-mile routes.

'Walking Together' is the theme of Mrs Brown's moderatorial year. Before the walk, she will give a short talk at the Carswell Centre in Montgomery Street, Eaglesham, beginning at 10am.
