A food and hospitality initiative run by a Dundee church is featured in a new series on BBC Radio Scotland, which starts today (November 29).

Street Feast is an initial series of six programmes in which communities are brought together in a collective meal.

One of the episodes will focus on Dundee and featured the ‘Connect With a Cuppa’ project run by Logie and St John’s (Cross) Parish Church.

Minister, the Rev David Gray, said: “The concept is of neighbours meeting together with food and prompting conversation about how to re-build/build community and neighbourliness in the context of societal fragmentation, with particular focus on issues of loneliness and isolation as well as mental health - all topical matters of concern at this time.

“A street opposite our Church was selected and one of the participants alerted the BBC of our own initiatives involving food and community-building.”

The programme is on Thursdays at 1.30pm, repeated on Sundays at 7.30am, and also available on BBC Sounds. The Dundee episode is scheduled for first broadcast on Thursday January 3.
