Real Easter Eggs Go Plastic Free

Wednesday January 30 2019

The Real Easter Egg Hunt kit

This year’s range of Real Easter Eggs has been unveiled, with plastic-free packaging for the first time.

The Real Easter Egg is the only one which shares the Easter story, as well as being made of Fairtrade chocolate and including a charity donation. It was launched by the Meaningful Chocolate Company in 2010 and so far more than a million have been sold, of which three quarters were direct orders from churches and schools.

For 2019, there is a new version of the Easter story inside each box, and the original and dark eggs now come in plastic-free packaging. The book, illustrated by Martina Peluso, contains a prize competition worth £200. The dark egg, which is dairy free, also includes three dark chocolate squares.

This year’s special edition Real Easter Egg includes a simple guide to Easter, a bookmark/keepsake made by disabled craft artisans in India and a Fairtrade orange milk chocolate bar

There are also sharing boxes of 30 small eggs, with Easter-related activity booklets, for children’s Easter events, Messy Church or for outreach giveaways.

Prices are unchanged: the original and dark eggs are available in cases of six for £23.94 and £33 respectively, the special edition singly for £9.99, and the sharing box for £30.

Visit meaningfulchocolate.co.uk to buy, for downloadable marketing packs and order forms, and for a list of shops stocking the eggs.

This year, the Meaningful Chocolate Company is also launching the pilot of the National Real Easter Egg Hunt, which gives churches a chance to host egg hunts using the sharing-size eggs. Kits – including the eggs, instruction sheet and publicity posters – are available from CPO.
