Dundee Community Budgeting Event

Monday April 29 2019

People in Dundee are being invited to an event in a local church tomorrow afternoon (Tuesday April 30) to decide how to spend £10,000 on community projects.

Locally-based organisations have been invited to apply for funding for projects that will tackle social isolation and loneliness. At the participatory budgeting (PB) event in Coldside Parish Church, each group will present their ideas to the participants, who will each be able to vote for five projects.

The votes will be counted on the day and the successful participants announced.

The event is a joint venture between Coldside, Dundee West and Lochee and Camperdown Churches, with support from Faith in the City Dundee and funding from the Church of Scotland’s Church and Society Council and the Scottish Government’s Community Choices Fund.

It follows three similar events over the weekend in different parts of Scotland, and is part of the Church of Scotland’s programme to encourage PB, in which local people are given a direct say in how money is spent in their communities.

The event takes place from 1-3.30pm in Coldside Parish Church, Main Street, Dundee, and there will be refreshments.

If you have difficulty getting to the venue or want to bring your children, contact Nadia on 01382 811788 or nadiataylor@virginmedia.com to make arrangements.
