The makers of the Real Advent Calendar have urged customers to get orders in by next week.
The calendar, which was launched in 2013, is sold as the only Fairtrade chocolate advent calendar to tell the Christmas story and supports charitable causes.
The 2019 calendar has a new design, and comes with a 24-page Christmas story activity book. Money raised from it will help a trust providing maternity, ante- and postnatal services in poor villages in Kenya. This year, there is an opportunity to order advent calendars for delivery to food banks via the Trussell Trust.
There is also a competition to design an advent calendar, open to schools and church children’s and youth organisations, with a first prize of £150.
In an email to supporters yesterday the Meaningful Chocolate Company, which makes the calendar, writes that they expect to sell out in early November: “We are now asking for as many orders as possible to come in over the next week so we can line up more deliveries before our ideal deadline of November 4.
“We will dispatch after this date, if you need more time to collect orders, but the deadline helps us manage the volume of orders and avoid last minute deliveries which are stressful for everyone!”
