A grant from Allchurches Trust helped to buy a community canal boat for Polwarth Church in Edinburgh.

Allchurches Trust is one of the UK’s largest grant-making charities, funding projects from all parts of the UK and Ireland. Grants support the repair, restoration and wider community use of churches and cathedrals, and projects that tackle social issues such as homelessness, poverty and social exclusion.
In 2020, Allchurches Trust awarded more than £23 million to churches, charities and communities, supporting many impactful causes.
Polwarth Parish Church in Edinburgh is one of the examples of projects supported by Allchurches in Scotland.
A £2,250 grant to Polwarth Parish Church helped to purchase a purpose-built community canal boat, in partnership with social innovation charity, People Know How, to be used as a unique space to engage with the community in different ways and to host People Know How’s project supporting children and young people.
The boat (pictured) is now complete, moored and ready to set sail from the church’s pontoon on the Union Canal in Edinburgh.
