Wendy Alexander to Address China Group

Monday August 23 2021

Former MSP and daughter of the manse Wendy Alexander (above) will be the guest speaker at the Scottish Churches China Group (SCCG)’s autumn plenary, at the City of Edinburgh Methodist Church on September 16.

Wendy, the vice-principal (international) of Dundee University, has a strong family history of involvement in China through the former Christian Medical Missionary Hospital in Shenyang and also family links with the SCCG. She is currently involved with a group setting up a permanent museum at the hospital in Shenyang.

Her talk will be entitled ‘From Shenyang to Scotland and Back: Connections Old and New’, and will be followed by a Q&A.

The SSCG is an ecumenical group representing the main Christian churches in Scotland. Building on the strong historical links between Scottish churches and various parts of China, the group works with local partners to improve health and education in the country, to improve awareness of China in Scotland and to support Christian witness in China.

The two-hour plenary, the SCCG’s first in-person event for 18 months, will also include an update on the group’s work. The event is free and you can register at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/sccg-autumn-plenary-tickets-166053188557 or by contacting patriciajohnston185@gmail.com
