Revival Call to Church Launched

Wednesday December 8 2021

A launch event will be held next week for a new book from a Church of Scotland minister, calling on the church to ‘awake and arise’.

Sleeping Giant is written by the Rev Tommy MacNeil, minister of Martin’s Memorial Church in Stornoway, and is described as ‘an honest, positive, provocative, hope-filled, Spirit-inspired rallying call to revival’.

It has a foreword by the Very Rev Dr Martin Fair, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland in 2020-21, who says he would ‘happily recommend it to professors, preachers and the faithful people who take their place in our pews Sunday by Sunday’. It has also been endorsed by another former Moderator, the Very Rev Albert Bogle, the Rev Dr Fred Drummond, Scottish Director of the Evangelical Alliance, and Nicky Gumbel, pioneer of the Alpha Course, among others.

The website for the book is live now at www.sleepinggiantbook.com, where you can pre-order with books shipping on the day of the launch.

The launch event will take place on Tuesday December 14 in Martin’s Memorial Church at 7.30pm, and will be livestreamed through the church’s YouTube channel and Facebook page. There will be live worship, a ‘Fireside Chat’ with Tommy about the book, and the Rev Kenny Borthwick, teaching pastor of Martin’s Memorial, will be speaking.
