Greenbank Parish Church in Edinburgh will hold a special Dementia Friendly Worship this Sunday, December 12, at 4.30pm.

Greenbank has been working towards becoming a Dementia Friendly Church for two years and held its first service in February 2020. Members of the congregation undertook Dementia Friends training, and changes have been made to furnishing and fittings to create a better environment for people living with dementia.

While the services have continued online during the Covid-19 pandemic – recorded either in ministers’ homes or in the church – this Sunday will be only the second that has taken place in person.

The service will be livestreamed via www.greenbankchurch.org and will also be available to watch afterwards. Call 07769 345845 for more information.

Two new elders were recently ordained at Inveraray, part of Lochfyneside Parish Church in Argyll. Aline Aitken and Robbie Kennedy-Elliott are pictured with the minister, the Rev Dorothy Wallace.

In an effort to reconnect with the local community, Colinton Parish Church in Edinburgh came up with the idea of creating Colinton Christmas Angels. In the run-up to Christmas, the church invited community groups and individuals of all ages to make, draw, knit, paint, crochet or sew angels and display them on their windows, fences, gateposts or school railings. This was also an opportunity to remember loved ones and friends at a special time of year.
