Training to Help Tackle Gender-Based Violence

Monday January 17

Online training will be held this Thursday to help Church members tackle violence against women and girls.

‘Safe(r) Churches: Violence Against Women and the Role of the Church’ has been developed by Integrity, the Church of Scotland’s Violence Against Women task group, in partnership with a specialist in the field.

The course will cover definitions and examples of gender based violence, explore connections with gender inequality and take a close look at one form of violation, street harassment. It will also help attendees reflect on the role of the church, nationally and locally, in recognising and preventing violence, offer guidance for what to say if someone reports an experience of violence or sexism, and offer details of support groups.

The training takes place this Thursday, January 20, at 10am and lasts for two and a half hours. Register here.

For more information on the violence against women task group, resources or details of where victims of violence can get help, visit the Integrity page on the Church of Scotland website.
