An Edinburgh church’s canal boat will be used as the venue for a series of concerts this summer.
The All Aboard boat is a community space run in partnership between Polwarth Parish Church, where it is moored on the Union Canal, and the charity people People Know How.
Together with charity Live Music Now Scotland and community group Health All Round, the concert series will bring live music to the canal community and give fairly paid performing opportunities to up-and-coming traditional musicians.
Live Music Now Scotland is a music charity committed to opening up the health and social benefits of live music, especially for those who would otherwise not have access to such opportunity.
The concerts will take place on the boat each Monday in August, and on September 19, and will include duos and solo performers on accordion, fiddle, piano, guitar and clarsach (Celtic harp).
Carol Main, director of Live Music Now Scotland, said: “Live Music Now Scotland musicians are used to playing in unusual venues, but this is the first time in the organisation’s history that they have performed on a canal boat!”
