Appeal for Glasgow Cathedral Guides

Monday January 9 2023

An appeal has been made for volunteers to act as visitor guides at Glasgow Cathedral this year.

The Cathedral, which dates back to the 12th century, is one of Scotland’s leading visitor attractions, welcoming nearly half a million visitors a year pre-pandemic.

The guides are organised by the Friends of Glasgow Cathedral, a non-denominational body which supports the care and preservation of the building.

Guides convener for the Friends, Colin Campbell, said: “The Volunteer Guides at Glasgow Cathedral offer a free Guiding Service to visitors to the Cathedral as well as attending at various special services when requested.

“Post covid, we are offering Guiding opportunities to anyone with an interest in Glasgow’s only medieval building and in meeting and welcoming visitors from all over the world. If you have a few hours in the week to spare we would be glad to hear from you. Full training will be given.”

Anyone interested can contact Mr Campbell on 07740922900 or ccampbell.02@outlook.com
