Welcome for new CrossReach Chair

                                                                                                                                   Tuesday June 4 2024

THE former Chairman of VisitScotland has been appointed as Chair of the Board of CrossReach, the Social Care Council of the Church of Scotland.

The appointment of Dr Mike Cantlay OBE as Convener of the Social Care Council and chair of CrossReach was confirmed at the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland last month.

He joined the CrossReach board in 2020 after his own mother entered care in 2018 and has been a strong advocate for the work of the Church’s Social Care Council since then. He brings a wealth of business experience married with a commitment to supporting and advancing social care.

Welcoming the news of his appointment, he said: “I am honoured to take on this new role and work alongside the dedicated teams at CrossReach. I have witnessed first-hand the incredible impact of CrossReach’s services when they cared for my other and I am truly passionate about supporting and enhancing social care across Scotland.”

Mike currently serves as the publicly appointed Chair of the Scottish Funding Council and was previously Convener of the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park Authority.

His former roles include serving as Chair of VisitScotland, Chair of Forth Valley College and Chair of Highlands and Islands Airports Ltd.  Additionally, Mike is CEO of his own business selling Scottish manufactured goods in North America.

Welcoming the appointment of Dr Cantlay, the chief executive of CrossReach, Viv Dickenson said: “We are delighted to have had Mike on the CrossReach board for the last four years and are pleased to announce his new role. He has extensive experience and leadership skills, which are invaluable as we continue to provide essential services to people who need us across Scotland.”
