Alice Waite has eventually received her BEM, having been named in this year’s New Years Honours list. Alice, at 88, is a long standing Elder at Flemington Hallside Parish Church, Cambuslang, and was honoured for her outstanding work with the Girls’ Brigade, church and youth work in the area.

Freuchie Church celebrated its annual Harvest Thanksgiving on September 22. The church was decorated from floor to window ledge with a beautiful display that had been put together by the local nursery. It was particularly appreciated to have turnips, grain and oats grown in the fields around the village donated by local farmers. There was a collection of tins and packets for the local foodbanks and the fruit and vegetables were auctioned off to raise £135, also for the foodbanks.

Dunbartonshire Guilds are twinned with the Guild in Mzuzo, Malawi, and hosted Iness, secretary of the Mzuzo Presbytery of the Women’s Guild, when a group of Malawians visited to attend the Annual Gathering recently. With Margaret Robinson, of the Faifly, Duntocher afternoon Guild, she visited CrossReach’s Waterfront Campus in Erskine and was shown around by Kyle Fleming, Head of Education.
