The Scots Kirk in Lausanne, Switzerland was recently visited by two fathers, one Palestinian and one Israeli, who have both lost a daughter to the ongoing violence in their homeland.

Bassam Aramin and Rami Elhanan are both members of the Parents Circle – Families Forum, a joint Israeli-Palestinian organisation of over 700 families, which promotes reconciliation through education, public meetings and the media.

Bassam and Rami have devoted their lives to keeping their daughters alive through their stories, and giving meaning to their deaths by working for peace in Palestine/Israel. Rami and Bassam spent a total of three days in the Lausanne area, and the Scots Kirk Lausanne hosted them on their last evening.

New Town Church in Edinburgh (formerly St Andrew’s and St George’s West), is repeating its Crafts for Christmas sale from November 27-30, 10.30am-2pm daily.

Presented by the Creative Together group at the church, the sale includes hand-made gifts, cards, decorations and tableware. The Undercroft Café will be serving freshly-cooked food, bakes and fairtrade tea and coffee.

All proceeds go to Mary’s Meals, who provide school meals for more than 2.4 million children in some of the world’s poorest countries.

On Saturday November 2 the Guild of St Mary’s Parish Church, Motherwell, hosted a celebration concert to mark a hundred years of worship and service in the community, with performances from Bothwell Philharmonic Choir and Dalziel High School Choir.
