The Church of Scotland’s stamp appeal has raised more than £18,000 for an environmental project in Africa.
Stamps collected in 2023 and 2024 have already raised £18,613.50 for the Firmly Planted Project in Malawi to create tree nurseries. This project will continue until March 2025.
Church congregations are again invited to gather in stamps to raise funds for projects overseas.
Stamps collected in 2023 and 2024 have already raised £18,613.50 for the Firmly Planted Project in Malawi to create tree nurseries. This project will continue until March 2025.
Projects which have benefitted from the appeal include, Support Pastors in Lebanon (£4,100), the Women’s Development Centre in Kandy, Sri Lanka (£42,297) and the Chigodi Women Centre in Blantyre, Malawi (£3,406).
Used stamps are gathered in, sorted and sold to collectors. The success of the scheme depends on the support given to it by congregations, organisations and individuals throughout Scotland who regularly send packets of used stamps.
Congregations can appoint a stamp agent who accepts stamps and sends them to one of the collection points.
Organisers are also appealing to anyone who may wish to dispose of collections to consider donating to the appeal.
Stamps can be donated in three ways:
