Govan & Linthouse Parish Church (GLPC) in Glasgow was the venue for an event marking the launch of John L Bell’s new book, And Then She Said.

The event, run by the Iona Community, featured John Bell in conversation with the broadcaster and singer Ricky Ross (Deacon Blue).

In recent years GLPC has been used for other events hosted by the Iona Community and the Wild Goose Resource Group since their relocation to Govan - a move which has re-established a link to the founding of the Community in the area.

On Sunday December 22, five congregations met in Lochgelly Centre, in Fife, for worship. Almost 200 people from Auchterderran Kinglassie, Beath & Cowdenbeath North, Cowdenbeath Trinity and Lochgelly & Benarty: St. Serfs met for worship followed by a time of fellowship. A retiral offering for Christian Aid raised £600.

Six elders have been presented with long service certificates at Portpatrick Parish Church, in the Presbytery of the South West. William McMiken (treasurer) and David Maxwell (session clerk) were each recognised for 50 years’ service, while Dorothy Murray, Mary Gibson, Edna Walker and Fiona Maxwell have served for 30 years. The certificates were presented by the Rev Stephen Ogston.

At a recent Communion Service, four elders of Forest Kirk, Carluke received long service certificates. Chris Shanks, Ruby Mitchel, Jean Battison and Janice Webster are pictured with their minister the Rev Dr Elijah Obinna.
