A special ecumenical service is taking place at Paisley Abbey this weekend to mark 80 years of Christian Aid.
The Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, the Rt Rev Dr Shaw Paterson is among those taking part in the service and will be leading the worship. Representatives from the United Reform Church and the Quakers in Scotland will also be attending and the popular group, The Heart and Soul Swing Band will be performing.
Head of Christian Aid Scotland Val Brown said: “2025 is a significant year for Christian Aid and Sunday’s service kicks off a number of events we have planned during the course of the year to mark this milestone. Churches across the Paisley area have journeyed with Christian Aid through the decades and this is a chance for us to acknowledge what we’ve achieved together, to say thank you and to reflect on the many challenges still ahead in a world were so many people continue to live in extreme poverty or are displaced by conflict. All are welcome, we look forward to seeing you there.”
The service takes place at 3.30pm this Sunday afternoon (January 26 2025) and all are welcome.
