Feed the Minds Announces Closure

The UK-based international development charity Feed the Minds has announced that it is closing down at the end of April.

In a statement, the charity blamed financial constraints for the decision.

Chair, Sandy Sneddon, said: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Feed the Minds. While this is a difficult moment, we are immensely proud of the legacy we leave behind—a legacy built on partnerships, creativity, and integrity.”

He added that all efforts were being made to minimise the impact on stakeholders, including staff, partners and beneficiaries. Current projects will be completed or transitioned to alternative management, and remaining assets distributed in according with the charity’s legal and ethical obligations.

Founded in 1964, the charity works with partner organisations across Africa and Asia on projects focused on citizenship, economic empowerment, and health education. In 2023-24, it reported that it had reached over 10,000 people directly and nearly 70,000 indirectly, across 11 projects in 10 countries.

it has had strong Church of Scotland connections, and one of its projects tackling female genital mutilation in Kenya was a Church of Scotland Guild partner project from 2015-18.

The closure statement concludes: “As Feed the Minds concludes its journey, it extends heartfelt gratitude to its supporters, donors, and partners who have made its work possible over the decades. The charity’s vision—a world in which all people have the opportunity to live life to the fullest—remains a call to action for all who continue to champion education and empowerment.”
