A recently-retired minister has been recognised in the Scottish Parliament for his 35 years of service to the church and town of Prestwick. The Rev Kenneth Elliott, formerly of Prestwick South Parish Church, was invited to the parliamentary office of Sharon Dowey MSP to receive the motion and congratulatory letter.

During his ministry Kenneth also served as Minister at Craigie Symington Parish Church, which was linked with Prestwick South in 2015. He was also Clerk to the Presbytery of Ayr from 2010 until it was merged into the Presbytery of South West Scotland in 2022.

Kenneth is pictured with Sharon Dowey MSP and his wife, Fiona Elliott.

On Sunday March 30, the Rev Sheila Craggs conducted the baptism of her great grandson, Arlo Mackie. The service took place at Fintray Kinellar Keithhall Parish Church, Aberdeenshire, where Sheila is interim moderator. During a ministry over two decades, Sheila has now conducted the marriages of her two daughters and one of her granddaughters, plus the baptism of five grandchildren and now of her first great grandchild.

Sheila is pictured with Arlo, his parents Nicholas (back row, middle) and Eilidh (front row, middle), and godparents Aidan Cruickshank, Annan Cruickshank and Angela Mackie.

The Moderator of the General Assembly, the Rt Rev Dr Shaw Paterson, visited Cairngryffe Parish Church in South Lanarkshire recently, leading worship and presenting three elders with long service certificates. Lily Borthwick has been an elder for 32 years, and Elizabeth Hiddleston and Denham Macdougall for 32 years. Mrs Borthwick has also been church officer for 40years, and Mrs Hiddleston and Mr Macdougall have been congregational worship leaders for over 20 years.
