The author, speaker and church leader Pete Greig will be the keynote speaker at this year’s National Prayer Breakfast for Scotland, in Edinburgh on June 11 at 7am.
The Prayer Breakfast, in Prestonfield House, has become a significant date in Scotland’s Christian calendar. As in previous years, MSPs along with other national leaders from the public sector, business, sport and academia will be joined by church leaders and members.
Pete Greig is known primarily for his role in founding the global prayer movement known as 24-7 Prayer, which grew out of a continuous prayer chain he initiated with a group of friends in a small church in Chichester. He is also an award-winning author of nine books and co-host of the Lectio365 daily devotional used by 330,000 people. With his wife, Sammy, he founded Emmaus Rd Church, which has grown from the back room of a pub to a multi-congregational community across three locations in the south of England.
Music for this year’s Prayer Breakfast will come from Celtic Worship, which renders familiar psalms and hymns with the instruments and musical language of Scotland.
The event is now sold out but you can join via a live web stream on the day, or join with others to view at several remote venues around Scotland. Details at https://www.npbscotland.org.uk/
Life and Work is the magazine of the Church of Scotland. May issue out now.
