The congregation of Palmerston Place Church in Edinburgh celebrated its 150th anniversary last month.

The weekend of celebrations started with an organ recital from the church’s former director of music, Andrew Caskie.

Then for Sunday worship the congregation welcomed back former minister, the Very Rev Colin Sinclair, as guest preacher, along with former pastoral assistant the Rev Willie-John Macdonald and Fiona Edwards. The service was led by interim moderator the Rev Same Torrens, and church member the Rev Bill Taylor led the prayers of intercession.

The celebrations concluded with a praise service on Sunday evening, with members of the congregation sharing their favourite hymns.

Colston Wellpark Parish Church in Glasgow welcomed eight new members and two adult baptisms on Easter Sunday.

Life and Work is the magazine of the Church of Scotland. June issue out now.
