Creation Time Resources Released

Tuesday June 24 2025

Resources are being made available for churches marking the Season of Creation 2025.

Season of Creation, otherwise known as Creation Time, Time for Creation, or Creationtide, is a time dedicated to prayer, worship and action for the care of God’s creation. This year it covers the Sundays from September 7 to October 5.

The theme is ‘Peace with Creation’, based on Isaiah 32:14-18, in which the prophet Isaiah pictured the desolated Creation without peace because of the lack of justice and the broken relationship between God and humankind. This description of devastated cities and wastelands eloquently stresses the fact that human destructive behaviours have a negative impact on the Earth. But there is still hope that creation will find peace when justice is restored.

Creation Time has its roots in a 1989 proposal by the Ecumenical Patriarch that September 1, the first day of the Eastern Orthodox Church, should be observed as a day ‘of protection of the natural environment’. Ten years later the European Christian Environmental Network widened the proposal to a season of creation from September 1 to the Feast of St Francis of Assisi on October 4, and since then it has been adopted by many denominations.

Season of Creation resources are supported by an ecumenical advisory committee and steering committee, plus a coalition of sponsors and partners from around the world, including A Rocha International, ACT Alliance, Anglican Communion, Christian Aid, European Christian Environmental Network, Laudato Si’ Movement, and the World Council of Churches (WCC).
