CrossReach Runners Smash Target

Tuesday May 13 2014

A team who ran the Glasgow Women's 10K at the weekend to raise awareness and funds for CrossReach's Bluebell campaign have smashed their fundraising target.

The group of 13, which included the Church of Scotland's Social Care convener, Dr Sally Bonnar (pictured centre with two other members of the team), staff, students, volunteers, a service user and friends, have raised over £2000.

A statement on the CrossReach website said: "The passion of their commitment to this cause fuelled their determination to finish the course and even the wet weather couldn't dampen their spirits!

"We thank everyone who committed to giving of their time and energy to support our service in this way."

The Bluebell Campaign is the perinatal depression project run by CrossReach, the Church's social care arm. Ante- and postnatal depression affects as many as 1 in 6 new mothers and 1 in 10 new fathers in Scotland, and the Campaign offers free counselling, and a specialist baby massage service. It receives no statutory funding and relies on donations and the goodwill of volunteers.
