New Real Easter Eggs Unveiled

Wednesday January 27

The makers of the only fairtrade Easter Egg which shares the Christian story of Easter have unveiled new designs for 2016.

The Real Easter Egg has had a complete makeover in packaging and content. The eggs come with a with a redesigned Easter story booklet in the shape of a cross, drawn by the children’s illustrator, Mary Cann.

The Meaningful Chocolate Company has also announced that the eggs are now manufactured wholly in the UK, after chocolate production was moved from mainland Europe to Oxfordshire.

The Rt Revd Colin Fletcher, acting Bishop of Oxford, said: 'The Real Easter Egg began its public life in 2009 encouraged by individuals, churches and schools in Oxford Diocese. So it is fitting that sales are sufficient to warrant Fairtrade chocolate being moved to Banbury. I pray for all those involved, the workforce, the creative team behind the idea and those who will read the Easter story for the first time in 2016 and discover the Good News of hope and new life.'

The range also includes a dark chocolate egg, a special edition (containing an olive wood cross key ring from Bethlehem) and sharing box containing 30 small eggs.
