Farnell Church of Scotland in Angus broke its record for the Blythswood Shoebox Appeal last year, dispatching 118 boxes – more than one for every member of the congregation.

The pictures shows some of the team from Farnell collecting and packing the shoeboxes.

On January 24 six new Elders were ordained in Dalbeattie and Kirkgunzeon Church. Left to right: Sheena Katherine Scott, Alison Kalotka, Alexandra Jane Howie, the Rev Fiona Wilson, Morag Elizabeth McMickan, Janet Sheila Farries and Rhonda Cathro.

A presentation was made in Tweedsmuir Church to Gill Bateman on January 17 to mark her retirement after more than half a century of service as a church organist.

Mrs Bateman had played in Tweedsmuir Church for 28 years, following 25 years at Rosslyn Chapel. She was presented with an original watercolour of her beloved Border hills after her final service.

The photo shows Mrs Bateman receiving the gift from Session Clerk Digby Welch with church minister, the Rev Bob Milne and members of the congregation looking on.
