The Rev Neil Dougall - a third generation Church of Scotland minister - has been elected Moderator of the Presbytery of Lothian for 2016-17.

Minister of St Andrew Blackadder church, North Berwick since moving to East Lothian with his wife Helen and their two daughters in 2003, Neil was born in Kenya where both his parents were missionaries and Church of Scotland ministers, as was his grandfather.   He trained for the ministry at Aberdeen and Glasgow universities, was ordained by Edinburgh Presbytery in January 1991 and was minister of St David’s Broomhouse Church there.

He was convener of the Church of Scotland’s Ministries Council (2011- 2015) after being vice convener from 2008.
