This summer the Parish of Dunkeld celebrated 20 years of a very successful Lunch Club. Once a fortnight, in the church hall, about 40 older people who live on their own gather for a meal and a chance to socialise. The food is prepared by three different teams of volunteers, and transport is arranged if needed.
To mark the anniversary an afternoon tea was held in Birnam Arts. Many volunteer helpers from over the years joined with people who attend the lunches to celebrate a valued part of the life of Dunkeld Parish.
Right: Jean Dickson, who with husband John has been the driving force behind the lunch club, with its oldest member, Jessie Sinclair (106), who was invited to cut the anniversary cake.
To "celebrate" the return to school and the restart of autumn activities, St Margaret's Church, Forfar held an ice cream sundae Sunday with ice cream and toppings being served during the opening hymns.
The Havilah drug addiction project at St Andrew’s Church in Arbroath, celebrates its 10th anniversary next week. Read a Life and Work interview with a former heroin addict who was helped by the project here.
