A REMEMBRANCE walk organised by Christian Aid Scotland will take place on September 1.

The Dollar to Stirling challenge ‘Another Way to Remember’, now in its third year, offers walkers a chance to celebrate the lives of lost loved ones.

The 10-mile route will take in parts of the Devon Way and Hillfoots Diamond Jubilee Way between Dollar and Stirling.

Ian and Joyce Watkinson from Tillicoultry took part last year and are planning to get involved again this year.  Ian said: “I heard about the walk through my local church and decided it would be a nice thing to do to celebrate the life of our son, Andrew, who died two years ago.  We really enjoyed taking part last year, not only was it a tough challenge but we found it a positive experience walking and sharing stories with new friends.  At the end of the walk we lit candles in Logie Kirk, pausing to remember the light Andrew had brought to our lives.  He is greatly missed.”

Jo Dallas, In Memory Co-ordinator at Christian Aid Scotland, who will be leading the Another Way to Remember walk again this year, said: “Every week at Christian Aid we receive donations from families who want to celebrate and honour the life of a loved one through making a gift in memory.  Through that gift, made with love, their memory lives on through Christian Aid’s work tackling poverty and social injustice around the world.”

Anyone interested in signing up for the walk, which begins at 10am on September 1 at Dollar Parish Church, can find out more online: https://www.christianaid.org.uk/events/memory-walk or you can email Jo Dallas on jdallas@christian-aid.org or call 0141 2416139 for more information.
