THE Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland has added her support to a campaign to raise money for victims of the Syrian conflict.
Boldly endorsing the message of the church-led 'Place at the Table' campaign, the Rt Rev Lorna Hood sported a special apron bearing the tagline '£20 can feed a family of five for a month in Syria' as she served up a special lunch to ministers.
Adding her voice to the campaign which aims to raise funds for the church's partner church, the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon (NESSL), Mrs Hood said: “It’s a really simple idea: we’re asking people to consider setting an extra place at their table or an extra place in a restaurant and giving the money which would have been spent on that extra meal to help those affected by the conflict in Syria.”
She added: “When we watch television reports of the conflict, it is easy to feel helpless, but through this opportunity to fundraise, we are able to do something to help.”

“I would like to know how a donation actually gets into the hands of Christians In Syria? Giving to other Displaced People(within the borders of Syria) in this Religious War could be seen as supporting Al Qaeda, Hezbollah or the Syrian Free Army (Which is connected to these terrorist groups) I would be more likely to donate to efforts to house, feed and provide medical aid to refugees outside of Syria.

“This is taken from the Church of Scotland news release:
"The Church of Scotland is working with its partner, the National Evangelical Synod of Syria and Lebanon (NESSL). NESSL is reaching out to the displaced people in Syria and the surrounding countries, and are seeking to support at least 24,000 families over the next year."”
