Hillhead Rises from the Ashes

Tuesday November 19

A parish church in Kirkintilloch which was badly damaged by fire six months ago has been reopened.

Hillhead Parish Church was packed out for the rededication service. The Very Rev Bill Hewitt, Clerk to Glasgow Presbytery, preached the sermon and rededicated the building; and the Rev Hilary McDougall, Presbytery Congregational Facilitator, led the prayers.

The service was the culmination of a weekend of events to mark the reopening, with a Friday night film showing for local children and a Saturday coffee afternoon.

The minister of Hillhead, the Rev Lily McKinnon, said: "Our thanks to all who made the weekend a wonderful homecoming for us. Hillhead Church is excited about the future and we look forward to welcoming everyone as we move forward."
