DramaKirk Passion Play to be Broadcast Online

Tuesday February 16 2021

Hamilton-based biblical theatre group DramaKirk is to present its Passion Play for 2021 online.

Called ‘With Arms Wide Open’, the play will be presented from 2pm on Easter Saturday, April 3.

DramaKirk is a Fresh Expression of church begun in 2016 as PassionPlayLanarkshire, using drama to bring biblical stories to life. Taking the name DramaKirk in 2018, it received funding from the Church of Scotland Go For It! Fund and other local and national sponsors.

Members of the company are drawn from the local community, both church members and non-members.

Last year’s Passion Play, which had been planned as an outdoor production in Hamilton and East Kilbride, was filmed and broadcast online during the first coronavirus lockdown.

The group continued its online activities with a series of dramatised Bible studies throughout the year, and a contemporary Nativity called ‘Jerusalem News’ has been viewed nearly 2000 times.

They are currently in the middle of a four-part dramatised study of the Apostle Paul, and are also filming five poems from Bob Hartman's "Rhyming Bible" as a free Easter resource for schools, churches and community groups. The five poems will be made available weekly from March 1.
