Parish Population Statistics Released

Monday November 25 2013

Detailed information about the population of every Church of Scotland parish is now available on the Church website.

The statistics for each of around 1400 churches have been updated with newly-released information from the 2011 census, including a breakdown of the parish by age, ethnicity, religion, general health and household tenure.

The information has been compiled by the Statistics for Mission Group, a working group of the Mission and Discipleship and Ministries Councils, working with the Church IT and communications departments.

It is intended to be a useful tool in engaging with the community, mission planning, preparing parish profiles and presbytery planning.

The Statistics for Mission group is also working on resources to help congregations interpret the information, and is planning information events in the new year.

To access the statistics, go to the Church Finder, where each parish has a link to parish statistics.
