Climate Justice Walk To Take Place In Edinburgh

                                                                                                                    Wednesday October 20 2021

PILGRIMS from Europe will join a walk for climate justice in Edinburgh next week and be welcomed by city leaders, including the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.

Organised by the Edinburgh Interfaith Association, the Moderator, Lord Wallace of Tankerness is expected to be among a group of political, religious and civic leaders welcoming pilgrims to Edinburgh on October 23 as part of a bigger pilgrim event from Dunbar to Glasgow, which concludes on October 29, ahead of the COP26 climate change conference.

Urging walkers to take part in the pilgrimage, EIFA Director Iain Stewart said: “When we walk together we walk in a spirit of openness and willingness to listen to one another. I believe the earth is also calling us to listen to her cry for help and we must answer her call and as we join this pilgrimage begin to think on what steps we can take together to save our planet.”

The Edinburgh leg of the pilgrimage begins at 1.30pm at New College with a ‘silent rebellion meditation’ on the Mound beforehand at 12 noon.

There is also a whole programme of events put together for Cop 26  by the Edinburgh Interfaith Association and more information can be found at www.edinburghinterfaith.com
