Grants Available for Winter Cost-of-Living Projects

Monday November 10 2022

Money has been made available for churches that wish to help their community through this winter’s cost of living crisis.

A ‘winter support’ category has been added to the Church of Scotland’s Small Grants Fund, which funds short-term church projects. The normal limit is £1000 but up to £5000 will be available under the new category, which must deliver activity between December and February.

The projects which may be funded include those providing meals or a space where people can keep warm, supplying warm clothing or blankets, and partnering with other organisations to provide advice on benefits and other support.

The total grant budget for this year is £100,000, with £70,000 of this earmarked for Winter Support. Priority will be given to churches working in the poorest communities, or the poorest groups in their areas.

The current call for applications to the Small Grants Fund is open now, and lasts until next month. Churches and groups of churches can apply, and applications must be supported by Presbytery.
